2020 Holiday Home Tour
I can’t believe we’re at the end of 2020. What a year! We hosted Christmas dinner last year, and I had every intention to do the same again this year but of course 2020 had other plans for us. This year we’re only setting the table for two. And even though our home won’t be visited as much as we’d like, I still wanted it to feel special and well thought out. So I went for a very fun theme: Modern Hollywood Regency!! And of course I partnered with my friends at The Home Depot to find the perfect most realistic tree for our home.
IT ALL STARTED WITH THE TREE
I did what I always do, go into the store to explore what’s new and to see it in person. I had a list of trees I wanted to scout, that I researched online ahead of time. The tree I had my heart set on was the seven and half foot Mayfield Balsam Fir Christmas Tree with 4000 fairy lights. Yes you read right…four thousand lights! When I saw the tree in person, I naturally gravitated toward it not knowing it was THE TREE. This is the kind of tree that is beautiful by itself. Needs nothing else.
I pulled out some of my favorite high end looking ornaments (because Hollywood Regency requires all the glitz and glam) and purchased these brownish/orange ones from The Home Depot online. Those ornaments were the perfect touch of color the tree needed. And the 4inch size was perfect! To offset the shiny and glitter ornaments, I used matte black blubs, and it gave the tree enough depth and balance. I used my large clear pine cone ornaments from last year’s tree. I love seeing them glow from the inner parts of the tree. And that’s an important tip when decorating your tree, don’t forget to add trimmings to the inner parts of the tree.
I also upgraded our window treatments. Installed a new wraparound brass curtain rod, switched out the drapes to this beautiful blue tone velvet fabric and hung them with curtain rings.
NOW TO THE REST OF THE HOUSE
For Christmas 2020, I added in a few more vignettes of holiday decor. I dressed my coffee table with these large brass bells that’s actually a decor item from The Home Depot online, but works perfect as holiday decorations and every day decor too. If you want your home smelling like Christmas, you HAVE to get these pine cones. I picked mine up in the store, and my entire house smells like I have a Christmas spice brewing on the stove. No decor of mine is left without tapered candles. The Home Depot has a wide, I mean WIDE assortment of tapered candles in a lot of fun colors, and massive heights! I got a deep ruby color, and deep orange color to keep with my theme. I added them to my TV console tabletop, that I also dressed up with live Christmas stems that you can find in the store for only $7.98 per bouquet.
TABLE SETTING FOR TWO
Our home wouldn’t be complete without setting the table. This year I’m going for a more relaxed but still high end feel table setting. These massively tall candles, intertwined with the orange and red candles, are so romantic but also playful at the same time. The brass candle holder just refines the whole table with its simplistic lines.
I know you guys recognize the matte black stone plate set (It comes in a set for 8 and a set for 4) from my Thanksgiving table. Well I love this set so much that it’s making another comeback for Christmas. I layered in my brass flatware because what’s a table without them, and then brought in some cream napkins with napkin rings, that add the right amount of color to the plates.
Instead of wine glasses, I opted for cocktail glasses to give an unpredictable flair to drinkware. The short glasses are from a set that I think everyone should have in their cabinet for special occasions. And to finish off the look, what’s a dinner night without some cappuccino to keep you up and alert, but make it cute with this glass tea cup set.
Here are links to my dining chairs, high gloss round black table, light fixture and benches.
Matching Doggy Pajamas
I purchased matching pajama sets for the pups!! They were so cute!! And yes, the pajamas were also from The Home Depot.
Christmas 2020 definitely looks different for many of us, but that doesn’t mean your home has to as well. Check out my design friend from Albie from AlbieKnows to see how she decorated her home for the holidays. We used some of the same items but in different ways or different colors. Regardless of everything that we’re experiencing right now, let’s try and make our home feel as special as it can be. Decorating for me is self care, and it can be and should be for you too! Merry Christmas Everyone!
P.S.
The wardies (That’s what I call dogs) were so over me! They wanted their treats!
Rashida I love how you have paired everything together beautifully. It’s so elegantly designed and I love it 🥰
